The Diving Addiction

December 8th, 2011 by Sally Robinson

In today’s society, everyone seems to be addicted to something; it can be something big or small, inexpensive or costly, time-consuming or not. Addictions run the gambit from Facebook, Twitter, shopping, golfing, fishing, reading, cooking… the list is endless.

I don’t know about you, but my favorite addiction is diving; scuba diving, that is.

There is something special about getting ready for a dive. The smell of neoprene and the task of packing my dive bag just send my emotions and senses reeling into another universe. I think it is the excitement and anticipation of going out on a dive site.

No matter how many times you go down on a particular dive site, you’ll always see and experience something new and different. The ocean is vast and its properties and contents are continually evolving. It astounds me to realize that 70 percent of the earth is covered with water and that so few people scuba dive.

Those that don’t scuba dive are missing out on experiencing wonder and amazement that simply cannot be found on land.

So, how about you? Are you addicted to diving, too!?
