Charleston Scuba also offers river diving excursions for those of you who wish to take home some of our history with you. The South Carolina Lowcountry rivers have some of the richest marine fossil beds in the world. This area is world-renowned for the enormous fossilized shark teeth found by divers, some of which are as large as your hand and date back millions of years!!
Cooper River fossil hunting excursions for groups of 6-12 divers can be scheduled through us with Trident Charters, Inc. (October – April) We have over 30 years of experience on the river and we always take divers to the best sites. We can also arrange river charters for you (May -September). For charter reservations with Trident Charters, Inc. please contact us at Charleston Scuba and we’ll arrange the Trinity for a fossil hunting excursion – (843) 763-3483. We guarantee you’ll find at least one fossil while you’re here diving with us!
South Carolina’s rivers are some of the richest fossil beds in the world and people from all over come to try their luck at finding prehistoric sharks teeth, as well as pottery and other artifacts. We dive both the Cooper and the Wando rivers on the Trinity. Please call for scheduling group charters since special rates apply.
